Altar workshop
With a guided meditation.
The workshop opens with a guided meditation focusing on the senses, followed by an introduction to handbuilding techniques. You will then be guided in making your own altar: an object that can make space for reflection and ritual, shaped by your own intentions.
Making an altar can become a place to set intentions, honour cycles or keep returning to yourself. This workshop weaves the making of an altar together with an exploration of personal ritual. Through the guided meditation and working with your hands, participants are invited to slow down, land in the body and create with intention.
No experience needed – everyone is welcome.
Included:
– Clay and slips (engobes) for painting
– A bisque firing, once your altar has dried completely
– A glaze firing: after the first firing we glaze your altar with a transparent glaze, which makes your work glossy, strong and watertight
– Guided meditation
– Guidance and basic handbuilding skills for making your altar
– A (warm) drink and something sweet
You can collect your altar 3 weeks after the workshop.
